All this rain in LA.....

....makes me WANT. WANT. WANT.

The holidays means travelling, so……

...So, I thought I'd take a mini break from the crazy Christmas posts, and share this awesome states shaped bookshelf : )..... oh, and also to announce that I will be frequently posting pictures of the coolest shelves from around the web!

Store the sunshine for the night-time!

My favorite thing about Christmas is that everything sparkles!!! Christmas lights, tree ornaments, shiny bows and paper.... I can't get enough of the stringed lights!!! I wish we could keep them all year long... These DIY solar powered light jars are perfect for keeping the sparkle all year long!

Gift ideas for the tea lovers in your life...

The top are tiny kits to grow your own tea garden at home! I've always wanted my own tea garden!
I collect vintage tea cups, and I adore this monogrammed little cup. It's perfect and understated and different from the colorful ones I already have!!

Gift ideas for your sister who is quirky, brutally honest, and has a lion's mane for hair....

...who likes nonfunctional things (as long as she can say she's the only one who has one), and has particularly high standards when choosing beau's (because she prefers them ultra funny!)

I LOVE letters. There is absolutely something sweet and endearing about a real handwritten letter! In my books, nothing can top that.... except maybe a handwritten letter in a beautifully crafted fabric envelope!!

Holiday wrappings

Crafty Birthday to You
In my opinion, it's not about what you get em'... it's about how you wrap it!! I've always loved the classic brown butcher paper with a pretty bow, but this year we're going to try and get a little fancy.

How great are these?!? Isn't it fascinating what you can create with old billing envelopes and colorful masking tape!!! These gifts are wrapped in such a whimsically original way that it would break me to have to rip them to shreds on Christmas morning. I would much rather hang them on my wall.

Dead week is among us

Dead week- The duty of students to rally every last ounce of strength and motivation left in their malnutritioned and sleep deprived bodies to run head-on towards the last week of the semester. It's time to tackle papers, projects, and deadlines with gusto.

A personal characteristic of mine (to which I owe this very blog), is procrastination. To those out there who do not know what that is, two things- one. We cannot be friends. and Two. Procrastination is the crafted art of doing all the things you don't have time for.

In efforts to maximize my time by combining play with work this dead week, I've come up with a few tips for you. I've found a lovely (and absurdly true) essay on How To Bullshit Your Way Through Any Essay. It's priceless, in every sense of the word.

And when your brain finally feels like a bowl of soggy cereal, take a breather from actually having to think. My go-to mindless entertainment is stumbleupon. Click, look. Click, look. It's numbingly simple.

When all else fails, try daydreaming about the light at the end of the tunnel. I like to imagine myself in the picture above (which I ironically found on stumbleupon). Isn't it sooo dreamy, and very very far from deadlines of any kind!

Good luck everyone!!

Monday afternoon pick-me-up

"The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark."

Fabulous flakes, if there ever were such a thing

Paper snowflakes are the absolute ultimate Christmas decoration! They are tons of fun to make and they always look dreamy no matter how creativley challenged you are!! If you are growing tired of the plain white folded paper, try a pattern instead! I LOVE using old book pages when I make my flakes, there's just something so cool about that old yellow paper!

I ADORE these fancy flakes! Have you ever seen anything like them in your life?!?! Isn't it funny how everybodys snowflakes turn out just a littttle bit different? It's just like handwriting!!

And for all you noobs, here is THE BEST paper snowflake video out there! She's absolutely right on the spot when she says that you want to cut most of the paper away and leave even boarders!

Here's a really aweful snap of my flakes this year! I'm not quite done making them but I hope to hang them from the ceiling, or maybe make a snowflake chandelier!! Any ideas?!?!

Merry Flaking Everyone!!

There's something magical about seeing book pages in places they shouldn't be, don't you think??

My apologies to all

I haven't posted in a few days. And for that I am sorry... so, for now this picture of Salvador Dali walking his ant eaters will have to hold you over untill I get home from work today. Be prepared for some serious holiday festivities!!
